Pseudomonas folikulitis

Description

Infection of the root of hair follicle. The disease occurs when a person come in touch with bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa which may live in hot water, e.g. in Jacuzzi bathtub, etc. especially if the bathtub is wooden or if the acidity and content of chlorine are not being checked regularly. The infection usually occurs two days after having a bath in jacuzzi bathtub and may be particularly noticeable in parts below the bathing suit.

Symptoms

Itch, red protruding rash, rash sensitive to touch, purulent rash.

Therapy

Treatment is not often necessary because the infection will resolve on its own. If the symptoms are persistent or get worse, antibiotic to kill this bacteria will be prescribed.
