Felon or Finger pulp infection. A bacterial infection that affects deep tissues of the pad of the finger and causes swelling and pain. Sometimes the infection may transform into a collection of pus called an abscess. This infection may be caused by small punctures on the finger pad or may be followed by infections of the nail bed (paronychia). The most common causes of this infection are staphylococcus aureus and streptococcus bacteria.
Pain, swelling, pus, redness, increased warmth, red stripes uparm.
Anamnesis will be taken and medical examination will be performed. No other examinations are generally required.
