Acid (LSD) abuse

Description

LSD, also called trip or acid, is a street drug with hallucinogeneffects. LCD is being produced and sold in small tablets, gelatina, absorbent cartoon paper decorated with small designs or in liquid form. Frequent LSD users can have flashbacks (certain aspects of repeated LSD experience). Users are more prone to suffer from anxiety, depression and/or psychosis.

Symptoms

Nervousness, hallucinations, sweating, confusion.

Overview

History of disease is being taken and physical examination is being done in order to exclude other causes of hallucinations and nervousness.

Tests

Complete blood count (CBC), comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) and electrocardiogram (EKG).

Therapy

The objective of the therapy is to help the patient to renew vital function of the organism and to prevent the patient from self-injury. Treatment includes benzodiazepines and other sedatives.
