Acute fatty liver of pregnancy

Description

The rare life-threatening complication in pregnancy that occurs in the third trimester or immediately after delivery. It is thought that it occurs as a consequence of disordered metabolism of the mother. It can be fatal both for the mother and for the baby.

Symptoms

Abdominal pain, vomiting, yellow skin, confusion, headache.

Overview

Anamnesis is being taken and physical examination is being done. Developing and condition of the baby in the stomach are being followed and analysis of liver function can be done.

Tests

Complete blood count (CBC), biochemical blood analysis, hepatogram, ultrasound and urine analysis.
